Here's the story - and also some vital info about the amazing attractions and things to do in our region

Spring September 2018

Dear Guests & Friends,

What a year of contrasts, fires, drought and then lots of fantastic rain!

Cape Town & The Garden Route have had fantastic winter rains, and everything is green and Spring flowers are at their best. Tourism is busy with accommodation bookings for our season which has just started, looking really good.

As usual we have been busy during winter with some improvements and up-grades at Lily Pond.

The Luxury Garden Suites have had the Doors and windows replaced with larger efficient doors and windows. We have also replaced the Hot Water cylinders with sustainable energy efficient heat pumps. The entrances to the rooms have also being modified.

We have also added Solar water panels to our heat pumps on the Garden & Luxury Suites, which will make them even more energy efficient.

The Entrance and parking area had had a major re-vamp, with Gabion Rock & Blackwood Pillars, with hidden romantic lighting, replacing the old brick walls. The wood being recovered from trees blown over in our Lily Pond forest during the June 2017 storms and fires.

Tourist attractions and activities in The Lily Pond area are still on the increase. The Plett wine Route has additional wineries as well as Lunch time restaurants. Added to this one can do Farm Wine Tasting on Horse back or Horse carriage, or on Mountain Bike tours or by self- drive.

Tourist activities for the odd rainy day, could include ; Old Nik Craft village and a tour of the Mungo working weaving museum. A visit to Mohair Mill craft village which also includes the Pottery and community bead craft ladies. Monkeyland & Birds of Eden are fairly well protected with the forest canopy. Of course there is also many shops and coffee shops to visit .

Local Hiking Trails can also be Guided (by pre-arrangement). To name a few: Salt River Trail and The Kalanderkloof Trail at Natures Valley, Tstsikamma / Storms River mouth & Big Tree & village,  Robberg Nature Reserve at Plettenberg Bay, Elephant Trails at Diep Walle Forestry station.

Mountain Biking Trails can also be guided ( and bikes hired) by pre-arrangement, for Harkeville & DiepWalle Plettenberg Bay, as well as Natures Valley and Storms River.

The Crags (Kurland Village) is the 1st community to introduce / pioneer a Drill Squad for the local children. This is an initiative with the Local School Headmaster & Staff and The Crags Cluster Head of the Police, Community members and Local Private Businesses. Lily Pond was involved to raise much needed funds, with a wine pairing dinner and auction of Fantastic activities, and collectors wine. More about this in the next blog.

Please let us know if you have any photos or comments you would like to share with The Lily Pond Guests & Staff?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Now Go away on Holiday - it is the Best Thing You can Do!

Kindest Regards Lily Pond Country Lodge
